The Yamaha EF2400iS is constructed out of die-cast aluminium for durability and stability, and has a 4 stroke OHV single cylinder engine. It displaces around 170cc, has a  5.5HP and produces between 16.7 -20 Amps. It is a gas powered generator with a gas tank of 1.6 gallons that comes fitted with a fuel gauge so you can know exactly how much fuel is in the tank.

Long term test and review.
I have owned the Yamaha EF2400iS for about 4 years now.  I have logged 1825 hours which is much more than I have ever seen on any brand. This generator is probably run much harder than you will ever run it. It is used at the dunes (near Death Valley) and various dry lake beds, forests, deserts, etc. We are into off road racing. It has been used in dust storms, sand storms, rain storms and snow storms. Always starts with the first pull, and has never had any extra maintenance besides that stated in the owners manual.  Have never had a noise complaint. This generator is rated at 16.7amps but has no problem holding 18. If you are in the market, don’t hesitate. Just buy it, you will be glad you did.

Good investment

I had been looking for a generator for my camper that could start and run my 13,500 btu A/C and the Yamaha EF2400iS does it with no trouble at all. I have had it for 6 months now and used it several times during power outages. One time, I ran it for 55 hrs straight and  it powered my refrigerator, freezer, satellite dish, 2 LCD flat screen TVs, computer, two electric blankets, fish tank and one light. It  has run for over 7 hrs on one tank and I couldn’t hear it compared to my two neighbors who have a noisy non-inverter style generator.

Lightweight and great!

Received delivery of the Yamaha EF2400iS generator on the day of a huge storm that swept through and knocked out power for 30 hours. This generator allowed me to pump out my full sump pit, keep my two fridges cold, and have the TV and fan running (all happened at separate intervals).The best thing about this generator is how easy it is to use, and it’s only 70 lbs. Fill up with gas and oil, switch the power on, gas on, choke, and pull. This generator is so quiet and has plenty of power to get you through a short term power outage. Dollar for watts, this is the best inverter generator out there. Also, since it’s lightweight and quiet, I can use it for other purposes like camping. This is a quality piece of equipment, made in Japan.

Here are the disadvantages of the Yamaha EF2400iS:

• The generator can only run an air conditioning unit of up to 10,000 btu. RV owners with 13,500btu air-conditioning unit have gotten around this by purchasing a hard start kit that retails for under $30.
• The Yamaha is pricier than other 2400 watt generators but buyers agree that cheaper generators are actually more expensive in the long run due to their poor performance and regular breakdowns.
